This awesome list of free stock photos websites will blow your mind! I’ve scoured the internet to find good quality free images to use for my blog and social media and want to share it with you. Also, I’m going to give you a brief explanation of the rules regarding free photo stock.

I’m all for paying for great photos but let’s face it, many new bloggers are on a budget and if we can find free, totally legal, do what you like with it photos, then YAY!

FYI Free stock photos are ‘usually’ photos that you can use for anything! Personal use, commercial use, distribute them freely, edit them, do whatever you want with them. In grown-up words it’s called ‘a creative commons public domain license’. Yes it’s a bit of a mouthful but one I’m happy to shout from the hilltops because it sure does help us out! However, do be careful when you are using photos with company logos and branding etc. just don’t go there!

Once you’ve found your amazing photo, please try to change it a bit. It’s super easy now with all the different apps to change the filters and just make it your own. Don’t forget there are lot’s of bloggers out there using those images too. See the photo at the top of the post, with some editing in Photoshop I managed to make it my own. Here’s the original.

As you can see, you don’t have to edit the crap out of it to make it your own! Just a few tweaks and you’re good to go. I used Photoshop because I’m a designer but you could easily use free photo editing apps and I still do sometimes. You can also try adding the infographics with canva.com or pickmonkey.com.  if you really want to personalize it more or have it in line with your branding, then try using fonts that are cohesive. I use Creativemarket.com (affiliate) for great fonts. Nicky Laatz on ‘Creative Market’ has great products, one package in particular is ‘The Typographer’s Toolbox’ (affiliate) with 16 hand lettered fonts. (That’s an affiliate link but I use Creative Market products in my design process and only recommend if I’ve used the products myself or know the designers products).

For this blog image, I used Photoshop. I copied the first layer, giving me two layers. Then, I changed the second layer to black and white and cut out the hat with the lasso tool, revealing the red hat underneath. There’s probably an easier way to do it but you get the idea. Not really a tutorial but just in case you wondered how :)

Some of the sites will require that you give credit to the photographer and I’ve tried to include that information in the list so you know before clicking the link. Also, if you’re reading this post way in the future then just double check yourself because these things change you know.

So without further ado…the list!
