HOW DO WE REMOVE A SIMPLE BACKGROUND IN PHOTOSHOP? – Good question. In my recent Skillshare class, I show you how to create your own mock-ups in Photoshop.  As part of my class preparation I took a small section of the class and shared it for free on YouTube and Vimeo.

I’m sharing this small tutorial here because it’s something many newcomers to Photoshop don’t understand and that’s removing backgrounds. There are far more complex tutorials for this but this tutorial runs you through how to remove a simple background.
So here it is:

REMOVE A SIMPLE BACKGROUND IN PHOTOSHOP

I used the Polygonal Lasso Tool in the first demonstration and then moved on to demonstrate the Quick Selection Tool. You can also try the Magnetic Lasso Tool and the Pen Tool which are also good options. You just need to have a play around with what suits the purpose.
If you learn this simple trick to remove backgrounds, you’ll find you use it in many ways. This video is part of my mock-up class but you can follow along and use it to cut out any image in Photoshop and use for your designs, social media etc.
